Deburring Aluminum Sleeves

Get the Pump Manufacturer Case Study

When a pump manufacturer needed to remove small burrs from a metal sleeve, Flex-Hone® technology enabled the company to move finishing operations in-house. Haskel Inc., a California manufacturer of air-driven pumps, machines aluminum bar stock. Before, drilled sleeves were sent to a vendor, where micro-burrs were removed at considerable time and cost. Now Haskel uses BRM’s flexible honing tools with a standard drill motor. The pump manufacturer uses two or three Flex-Hone® tools per standard order of 2,500 parts, and deburrs as many as 20,000 aluminum cylinders per year. Each sleeve meets the company’s surface finishing specifications and is free of burrs that could cause excessive O-ring wear and pump failure.  How can flexible honing support your application?
